Our mission is to conserve local populations of sea turtles, educate the public about the marine environment, and provide nature-based programs to underserved communities.
Sea Turtle Adventures was founded on the belief that healthy oceans and healthy communities go hand in hand. By providing meaningful access to sea turtle conservation, we inspire people to develop a deeper connection with the natural world and empower them to become lifelong stewards of our coastal environment.
We create hands-on conservation experiences for people of all ages and abilities, with a special focus on those who have historically had the least access to nature and outdoor education. Whether you adopt a sea turtle nest, participate in a program, volunteer, donate, or simply practice turtle-friendly habits, you become part of a community working together to protect our marine ecosystems for future generations.
HISTORY
Founded in 2016 by local biologist Jacquelyn Lorne, Sea Turtle Adventures (STA) grew from a simple idea: that meaningful experiences in nature can inspire both conservation and personal growth.
After spending more than 20 years monitoring sea turtle nests under a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission permit, Jacquelyn recognized an opportunity to connect the public with sea turtle conservation in ways that were engaging, educational, and impactful.
As the organization grew, STA became known for creating inclusive outdoor education programs, including pioneering nature-based experiences for adults with special needs that demonstrated the transformative power of conservation. Today, STA offers hands-on experiences for people of all ages and abilities through public nest excavations, Mommy & Me Sea Turtle Experiences, Nest Adoption programs, ATV ride-alongs with the nest monitoring team, marine science camps, beach cleanups, classroom presentations, and the annual Turtle Crawl.
Over the past decade, thousands of children, families, and community members have gained a deeper appreciation for Florida's coastal ecosystems while becoming active stewards of sea turtle conservation.
