Responsible Pier Initiative
A partnership with Loggerhead Marinelife Center of Juno Beach
implemented at and around Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach, FL
"The Responsible Pier Initiative is a first-of-its-kind program designed as a collaborative tool to work directly with fishermen and fishing piers. The purpose of these efforts is to provide first-responders on fishing piers with the necessary resources to respond effectively to sea turtle injuries and strandings on or around fishing piers."
Rescue
We rescue injured sea turtles and seabirds and transport them to rehabilitation centers.
An injured gull we rescued in 2018 and transported to Bush Wildlife Sanctuary for treatment.
Recycle
We recycle used fishing line at the piers with Berkley Fishing
Six monofilament canisters placed throughout Ocean Inlet Park are emptied weekly and the fishing line is recycled.
We are thankful for our dedicated volunteers who rescue seabirds and collect the used fishing line from Boynton Inlet!
